Sandblasting
the original industrial blasting solution
Sandblasting is an abrasive blasting process that involves cleaning or etching a surface by bombarding with fine particulates shot at a controlled velocity. This process can create a smooth finish on concrete, exposing aggregate finishing, removal of aged paint, etching, and more.
The process of sandblasting is common knowledge, but it has also become a dated technology by the more advanced predecessors. Sandblasting produces an extreme amount of waste, hazardous dust, and other issues. Working regularly with sandblasting equipment can also lead to some serious health conditions!
Evolving with the times, EMS has adapted new abrasive techniques such as Dry Ice, Sponge, or “Low-Dust” Wet or Vapor Blasting. Not only are these options a much more eco-friendly blasting choice. They also produce better results with drastically reduce risks.

FACTS ABOUT SANDBLASTING
Did you know!? The blasting material for “Sandblasting” doesn’t use sand! Back in 1870 when Benjamin Chew Tilghman, invented the process his “Liquid Grindstone” used only sand, coining the name “Sandblasting.”
Fast-forward 150 years, technology advancements in eco-friendly processes, recycling, reusing, and health awareness have evolved the process. Today blasting materials could contain steel grit, copper slag, powdered abrasives, even walnut or coconut shells!
